Details: Roaming the coastline tonight knowing the swell is due to pick up and likely a worsening in the weather throughout the week.
Found a lovely little channel as the tide started to come in, casting my lure just beyond the channel where the current started to run strong with water flowing in and out as the waves pushed.
On my second cast as the water started to race out of that channel from the previous wave, the lure held in the current beautifully, where I just felt the most gentle pick up of the lure, at first I thought Iād caught up with some weed, then some serious, ferocious head shaking and trying not to let it get the run on me. The girth on her head as she came to the surface of the water. I knew she was big.
Managed to get her in through the channel and just as I was bringing her to my feet my line snapped at the lure clip from having caught the rock on the way through. Fortunately she was at my feet with no where to go.
In a panic and huge rush of adrenaline I just wanted to measure get a photo and put her back. Which I did, only to realise after that I had not placed my card down for the pic! Gutted! Either way more than happy to have my biggest fish of the year landed and pictured at least.
